Don’t hold the hot soldering iron to the wire
for a long period of time as the solder will
continue to stay liquid and seep through the
wires. As soon as you’ve transferred the sol-
der to the wires, pull the iron away from it and
the solder will immediately begin to solidify.
This process is called tinning. Now your
wires are prepped and ready to be used.
Your wires are now connected and will transfer power safely and are ready to be put in a termi-
nal block or other connector.
Cleaning Your Soldering Iron Tip
Touch the tip of your soldering iron to the wet
sponge.
Roll the tip around to clean off some of the old
solder.
A soldering iron stand is a safe place to keep your iron when it is hot.
