Going west, just outside of the lumber
company, everyday life forges on. There is
an Antique Tractor and Steam Powered Dis-
play. Green tractors line the street and a
steam powered antique log hauler that has
traveled all the way from Wabeno, Wisconsin
commands the street. Joining in the festivi-
ties are lumberjacks pole climbing.
Sometimes details are just details. Other
times they have special meaning. The totem
poles on display were souvenirs picked up on
Jim and his wife Dottie’s travels. One of the

crowning pieces on the peninsula is the

scratch built slash burner. No sawmill or
lumber company is complete without one.
This slash burner was created with a smoker
inside to add to the realistic quality of the
model.
Towering over the logging town, there is a
wooden trestle by Campbell Scale Models.
Jim was forced to get creative when the mod-
el didn’t quite reach where he had intended it
to, so he used the wood sticks from mock
chicken legs to expand it. It looks so realistic
that you’d never know!
