At 1:30am on June 16 , 2021 a eastbound Canadian National (CN) freight train hauling
lumber derailed, under the Center Ave Bridge and west of South Park Street in Merrill, Wiscon-
sin. Both engines ended up on their sides and a couple of lumber cars were off the track and
damaged. The tracks were also damaged and had to be repaired. CN reopened the lines in un-
der 24 hours and the damaged equipment remained while the derailment was investigated.
