The two tracks continue on along the
wall, passing around the outskirts of Mount
Idy before curving towards the left behind
the mountain. Once these two tracks make
the curve, there is the Shady Rest Hotel and
the Mount Idy Depot nestled into a scenic
yet very private area behind Mount Idy. The
scenery is reminiscent of fall, with colors
across the spectrum ranging from assorted
shades of green to yellows, oranges and reds.
Ever inventive, Jim uses materials at hand
to create this wonderfully detailed landscape.
Each of the mountains is covered in a raised
layer of chicken wire. Placed on top of the
chicken wire is lichen, moss and other types
of foliage to create the illusion of a forest
without the painstaking task of “planting”
thousands of individual trees.
